Autonomous Agents as a Self-Conversing Chat Pipeline

Abstract

Most AI agent features ship as a separate subsystem with their own prompts, action code, and scheduler. ATAPIC takes the opposite stance: an autonomous agent is the existing chat assistant talking to itself on a timer. The same model call, action protocol, and services power both human conversations and unattended agent runs. This paper explains the design, mechanics, safety model, memory, scheduling, and crash recovery behind ATAPIC's agent automation system.
